Local Fun Fact
The Hollywood of DuPage
If the scenery in the 1986 cult classic film Lucas (starring Charlie Sheen, Kerri Green, and a young Winona Ryder) looks familiar, it’s because the movie was filmed almost entirely in Glen Ellyn.
The "Castle" on the Hill: Most of the school scenes were shot at Glenbard West High School. The school is famous for its distinct Collegiate Gothic architecture and its unique position overlooking Lake Ellyn, often leading it to be ranked as one of the most beautiful high schools in the United States.
Winona’s Debut: This film marked the professional debut of Winona Ryder, forever linking a Hollywood A-lister to the 60137 zip code.
Local Cameos: Many of the "extras" in the football and classroom scenes were actual Glenbard West students and faculty members from the mid-1980s.
That’s it for Today.
