Truck Dangles from Eisenhower Expressway

Early on Thursday, March 5, 2026, a semi-truck carrying thousands of pounds of plastic pieces jackknifed and was left dangling over an overpass on the eastbound Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) in Elmhurst.
The accident occurred just before 3 a.m. near St. Charles Road when the driver lost control during heavy fog, crashed through temporary concrete barriers, and came to a rest on an unfinished, elevated portion of the expressway. The truck’s wheels were seen hanging over the edge of the bridge above Electric Avenue and Vallette Street, creating a precarious scene that required an extensive emergency response.
